11 days left to catch some Rock Lobster

The recreational West Coast Rock Lobster (WCRL) season opened on Monday (16 December) and will close on 30 March 2025, giving the public a total of 12 days to catch this delicacy.


The recreational West Coast Rock Lobster (WCRL) season opened on Monday (16 December) and will close on 30 March 2025, giving the public a total of 12 days to catch this delicacy.

A seasonal WCRL recreational fishing permit costs R94 and can be purchased online from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) website. The recreational fishing permit is valid for the entire season.

For online fishing permits visit www.fishing.dffe.gov.za on a PC, as the site is not mobile-friendly. One can also purchase a permit from the Post Office. Crayfishing will be allowed on the following dates:. Sunday 29 December . Monday 30December . Tuesday 31 December . Wednesday 1 January 2025 . Saturday 4 January 2025 . Sunday 5 January 2025 .
