BIOGRAPHER NEEDED: In a short sketch of this nature it is impossible to give more than the briefest glimpse of such a personality as this. Much has already been written about Mr. Paterson, for as school principal, Mayor, Town Councillor, catechist, undertaker, member of the Horticultural Society and many other organisations here he has been connected with almost every event of importance in Hermanus. If anyone were to write a history of Hermanus they would find Mr. Paterson to be probably their best source of reference and I believe that his son, Roderick, has actually undertaken this work.
The picturesque old Hermanus which to our generation is something of the past was a reality to Mr. Paterson and there are few who can so vividly recall those early days and at the same time hold his listener enthralled.
