The Reforest Fest, now entering its 14th year, will take place from 18 to 21 April over the Easter weekend at the Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat, nestled in the Overstrand region.

Since the festival’s inception, more than 150 000 indigenous trees have been planted, restoring forest habitat and supporting endangered species such as the Cape Leopard.

With enlightening workshops, delicious food experiences, informative talks, walks in ancient milkwood forests and live music courtesy of seasoned local and international acts, there really is something for everyone.

“Those who attend are immersed in playful creativity and active environmental engagement, all the while celebrating the age of restoration,” one of the organisers said. “We aim to plant another 5 000 trees over the Easter Weekend within the Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat and Platbos Forest.”

An essential component of the Reforest Fest experience is enjoying the wide selection of seasonal, fresh and locally sourced foods and drink that are available. “Our menu is curated with both sustainability and taste at the forefront of our minds, providing festival goers with delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options that many may not have tried prior to the event. Some of our sponsors for this year’s fest include Pesto Princess, ButtaNutt, AGT Foods, Eureka Mills and Wellness Warehouse.

“We have been thrilled to work with WWF Conservation Champions, who have acquired their very own tasting tent at the festival and have hydrated festival goers with a variety of top tier South African wines.”

There are still phase 3 tickets available from R1 100, which provide access to all the festival’s festivities and a spot in the campsite. Phase 4 tickets, which afford the same utilities, will be released after phase 3 is complete. Tickets for children between four and 12 years are R390. Children under four attend free of charge. Local and day tickets are also available.
