A foreign national from Lesotho was arrested after a large amount of ammunition for R5 and 9 mm firearms was found in his possession.

Sgt Thembi Gweyi, Caledon police spokesperson, reported the 29-year old suspect was arrested at 19:45 on 1 August at his home in Riemvasmaak informal settlement in Caledon. The police arrested Steven Mosala after following-up information about ammunition that was stored at the address.

“The suspect was at home and informed of the reason the police were there,” Gweyi stated. “The premises were searched with the permission of the suspect. He couldn’t provide any permit for the ammunition and was arrested.”

Mosala appeared in the Caledon Magistrates’ Court, where the case was postponed to 17 August for a formal bail application.
