They are ladies on a mission. The Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse (2L2) ladies raised more than R1,2 million with their walk in 2024 for their elected charity, Overstrand Hospice.

“We were also able to donate R30 000 each to Huis Lettie Theron and Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society (KAWS) as our runners-up, plus another R10 000 was donated to One Life Rescue for their invaluable services during our walks,” Jennie Vorster, co-chair and beneficiary liaison of the L2L ladies, said.

“It is with great anticipation that we announce that the call for applications for funding for 2025 will open soon.”

According to Vorster any non-profit or public-benefit organisation within the Overstrand Municipal District is welcome to apply for funding by downloading and completing the relevant application form on the website www.lighthouse2lighthouse.co.za/charities.

For more info, contact Vorster on l2lbeneficiaryliaison@gmail.com. Applications open on Thursday 1 August and close on Friday 30 August. Applicants need to specify the project for which funding is required. Details of the project must be included in the application.

The project needs to be realistic and viable and must be completed within one year of receipt of funds. The application needs to indicate the organisation’s target group (and the size of the target group) and the community that will benefit from the project.

Applicants will also be required to submit a two-minute video appealing to the L2L ladies (the voters) to raise funds for their specific project. The video will need to include information about the charity and the work it does in the Overstrand.

A voluntary briefing session will be held online on Thursday 15 August at 16:00.
