The body of an unknown male, believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, was found at Rietbaai between Hawston and Vermont on Saturday 28 May.
Captain Fadila September, spokesperson for the Hermanus police, reported a member of the public had contacted them at approximately 14:00 on Saturday to report the gruesome find.
“The body of an unidentified male estimated to be between 50 and 60 was found,” she said. “The deceased has a tattoo. The body is badly decomposed.”
September confirmed a post-mortem was done to determine the time and cause of death. An inquest docket is being investigated.
She appealed to anyone with a missing loved one to contact Hermanus detectives during office hours on 028 313 7000.
