Two suspected drug dealers’ plans to transport dagga worth more than R60 000 went up in smoke when they were arrested during a special operation by the Napier police.
The integrated operation led by the Napier police, which led to the arrest of two foreign nationals, was held on Wednesday 14 August and formed part of crime combatting operations in the district.
While members were busy with the operation along the R316 between Napier and Bredasdorp, they noticed the red Toyota Yaris that sped through the barricade at the roadblock.
Warrant officer Joseph Swartbooi, a provincial police spokesperson, reported that the police gave chase and managed to force the vehicle to a stop.
“They searched the occupants and the vehicle in which they discovered 44 bags filled with dagga. The discovery resulted in the arrest of two males for dealing in dagga,” he stated.
The dagga is reportedly worth an estimated R 66 000.
The suspects appeared in the Bredasdorp Magistrates’ Court on charges of dealing in drugs.
