Overstrand business people are invited to join the revamped Hermanus Business Chamber (HBC) in its efforts to boost the local economy after the devastating Covid consequences.
A new committee of 17 diverse business leaders was elected at the Annual General Meeting on 23 February at the Windsor Hotel.
A new chairperson will be elected at the first Exco strategy session to be held on 8 March.
Several new portfolios will be added to include a wide variety of business sectors.
The Exco will assist business by:. Promoting Hermanus. Networking. Interacting with Overstrand Municipality. Job creation. Alignment with other like-minded institutions in Overstrand.
The HBC will also work closely with the Small Business Institute and members were invited to a Budget Think Tank on 24 February at the Lord Charles Hotel, presented by the North West Business School, and sponsored by the Small Business Institute (SBI).
A panel of experts discussed the National Budget and answered questions. They were Judge Dennis Davis, Prof Steven Friedman, Prof Raymond Parsons, Isaah Mhlanga and Crispin Sonn. It was followed by a SBI sponsored breakfast.
The chamber will also have discussions with Wesgro soon to see how they can work together.
