Hermanus Bowling Club hosted its annual Business League tournament from 31 January to 11 February, which was well attended and in which 38 teams participated.
The aim of this tournament is to promote the sport of bowls solely for the business fraternity in the Hermanus/Overberg region of the Western Cape.
Also, to foster an atmosphere that encourages business networking and social awareness in the greater Hermanus area.
The first round was based on a draw by the skips or team managers.
Round 2 and 3 were based on strength vs strength.
After the results of first, second and third rounds had been determined teams were divided into three divisions – A, B and C – and competed on the basis of strength versus strength.
Trellidor B was crowned the winner in Division C.
The winner of Division B were Proport Construction.
The 2022 Business League Tournament Champions were Hi-Q.
Wonderland Nursery received a very special trophy called The Conrad Oosthuizen Spirit Trophy Winners. This trophy was introduced in honour of Conrad Oosthuizen, a well-known businessman from Hermanus who died in an accident in December.
Some of the Business League and Old Boys players were instrumental in the advent of this trophy.
Oosthuizen was a huge supporter and player in the Business League and would have been proud to see his team Hi-Q being the champions once again in 2022.
