The Hermanus Child and Family Services’ offices re-opened on Monday 22 June after it was closed as precautionary measure last week when a staff member came into contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19.
David Duncan, HCFS general manager, confirmed that the staff member whose close relative had tested positive is still in self-isolation, although the staff member displayed no symptoms of the disease.
“The safety guidelines given by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases states that a person is ‘infectious’ from two days before to 14 days after their symptoms began. As a result, no-one who is presently in the office has been in contact with a person who is deemed ‘infectious’,” he explained.
The decision to close the offices situated in Malva Street, Mount Pleasant, said Duncan, was taken merely as a precautionary measure to prevent any possible contamination.
The office is disinfected on a daily basis.
