Disa 95.9 FM, a Christian radio station based in Grabouw, recently made it to the SA Radio Awards finalists in the Most Loyal Listeners category.
According to the station’s Monica Coetsee the SA Radio Awards is an independent event that has honoured achievements in the industry since 2010.
“It is a platform for radio stations to showcase their work and compete against one another,” she pointed out. “The judging process is independent and audited by a professional audit firm. There are various categories in which to participate, and it does not just focus on those behind the microphone. Some of the categories are: General, Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achiever, Bright Stars, Station Manager’s choice.”
Nominations opened on 17 March and stations entered in the various categories.
“We submitted four entries, but none of them made it to the finalist stage,” Coetsee said. “When the vote for one’s most favourite station was launched we decided to embrace the opportunity. We had two opportunities to win. Firstly, to be crowned ‘Most favourite radio station’ or ‘Most loyal listeners’ and we encouraged the listeners to vote for us.”
She elaborated, stating Disa 95.9 FM is the only station in the Western Cape that made it to the ‘Most Loyal Listeners’ category, among Groot FM, HOT 102.7 FM, Pretoria FM and TUKS FM.
“Whether we win or not, we will continue to do what we do daily, and that is to proclaim Christ unashamedly,” Coetsee declared.
