The Hermanus Photographic Society held a very successful photographic exhibition, informally entitled “The Camera as the Pencil of Art”, from 16-19 June as part of the annual Hermanus Fyn Arts Festival.
Over the four days just short of 450 visitors attended the exhibition, held at the Hermanus Station Mall, where some 46 photos from 16 club members were on show.
The Hermanus Photographic Society meets every month (except January) at 19:00 on the first Wednesday of the month at the Dutch Reformed church in Church Street, Hermanus. Visitors are most welcome.
The club also forms part of the Hermanus First Friday’s Art Walk (FFAW), and holds a regular photographic exhibition and photographic surgery at Foto First, Dirkie Uys Street on the first Friday of every month. On the first Sunday of every month, on most holiday weekends, from 10:00 to 14:00, at the Cricket Ground (Country Market), the club participates in “Hermanus Art in the Park”, where it and some 50-60 artists and artisans have stalls. The Hermanus Photographic Society is affiliated to the Photographic Society of South Africa.
