“I believe in Botrivier,” says Wayne Pohorille, co-owner of The Veggie Guy. “This scenic country village is a place where everyone knows your name. En route to many places in the Overberg, the green hillsides have an abundance of supportive neighbours.”
Right in the heart of the village a new venture has started. Despite the slow-paced lifestyle, the hub of activity surrounding the quaint farm stall has been increasing on a daily basis.
The germination of this idea started from a humble peach about 18 months ago. A large box of fresh, luscious, juicy peaches were bought and sold to highly satisfied customers. This sparked the idea that high-standard produce could fill a marketing niche, where infrastructure was rather scarce. The community warmed easily to the idea of good and fresh produce within easy reach and the Veggie Guys was born.
First starting as a delivery service stretching from Hermanus, Fisherhaven, Caledon and Somerst West, this soon grew to The Veggie Guy offering a farm stall in the heart of Botrivier.
Opening its doors on 11 May with only 12 m², demand led to the premises’ growth to its current almost 20 m², housing the excellent produce that is ready to fill the kitchen shelves of the community.
From golden peaches as a sole produce the Veggie Guy now offers a wide array of fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, eggs and much more.
The friendly staff fully support the farm stall’s motto, “Never less, sometimes more”. The Veggie Guy is open Monday to Friday, 09:30-17:30, and Saturday, 10:00-16:00.
