As we celebrate this joyous festive season I wish you and your loved ones a blessed and peaceful time filled with happiness and togetherness. May 2025 bring you prosperity, health and countless opportunities.

The festive season is a time of increased travel, and I urge everyone to exercise caution and vigilance on our roads. Whether driving or walking, especially after consuming alcohol, please prioritise safety. Let us all play our part in eliminating accidents and ensuring everyone returns home safely to their families.

We also extend our thoughts and prayers to those who may be grieving the loss of a loved one, feeling alone or overwhelmed at this time.

The festive season can be mentally challenging, and I encourage anyone struggling to seek help. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

To those who may not be as fortunate this season know that you are in our hearts. I appeal to everyone to consider donating food, toys or clothing to organisations within your communities, spreading joy to those in need.

With the summer heat upon us and children enjoying their school holidays, I urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant around water. Whether at a local stream, the beach or a pool, water safety is paramount for preventing life-threatening incidents.

Let’s work together to keep our children safe.

For those exploring our region, Theewaterskloof has an array of world-class attractions to enjoy.

From our renowned wine farms, farm stalls and bustling markets to the Caledon Casino, thrilling biking trails and the K3 Zipline – the longest in the world – there’s something for everyone.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all emergency personnel, traffic officers, standby teams, retail workers and hospitality staff who will be working tirelessly over this festive season. Your dedication and selflessness in taking time away from your own families to serve others do not go unnoticed. We appreciate your invaluable contribution to keeping our communities safe, supported and vibrant during this time.

As we reflect on 2024, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Thank you for your resilience, contributions and unwavering community spirit. Together, we can look forward to a brighter and hopeful 2025.

Stay safe, cherish every moment, and may this festive season bring you immense joy and peace.– Lincoln de Bruyn, Executive Mayor of Theewaterskloof
