The WP Sheepdog Club had a very successful set of trials during July. Good news is that another set will be held on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 August on the farm Grootvlei in the Caledon district. “We are coming to the end of the competition season and this is the last chance for handlers and their dogs to gain points for the coveted Dog of The Year Award – the best preforming dog in the season,” said Pippa Philip of the SA Sheepdog Association. Both Pierre Strydom’s Mac, all the way from the Eastern Cape, and Mark Trollip’s Diesel from Swellendam are at the top of the list. However anything can happen on the day if the wily sheep outsmart them. Everyone is welcome to attend the trials that will be held from 08:30 – 16:30 on both days, regardless of the weather. You can choose to pack your own picnic or enjoy the catering that will be available.
