River Mount Hope, a non-profit company, hosted its annual Christmas Fun Day on Saturday 16 December in Fisherhaven.

Pastors Gershom and Michelle Saayman said many people nowadays tend to lose sight of what Christmas is truly all about. “Christmas isn’t about Santa, it’s about Jesus and what he did to make sure we all have the opportunity to go to heaven,” Gershom explained.

They say they were privileged to host this event and network with the community.

“We enjoyed the day together in a picnic setting,” said Saayman.

“The people were blessed with food, drinks, treats, face painting, games, a jumping castle and a beautiful Christmas concert.

“The elderly were entered in special draws and many won prizes and gift vouchers.”

They wanted to thank Seeff Hermanus, Sorbet Hermanus, Style Bar, Car Wash @ Whale Coast Mall, The Old Hat Barber Shoppe, Spur, Haven Superette, Piccaninny, Xhamla’s Deco and Hiring, Jol Emporium and all volunteers.

Special thanks are extended to Overstrand Mayor Annelie Rabie, ward councillor Arnie Afrika and proportional Councillor Elnora Gillion, who were supportive and very present.

“Last, but definitely not least, we want to honour God and thank Him for making it all possible,” Gershom concluded.
