On the Friday 3 000 coloured belts competed for the top three positions in each category (kata and/or kumite).

SA JKA Hermanus Dojo had “girl power” on its side with four of our ladies taking the under 15, 16, 18 and Senior Elite Ladies Black belt divisions.

Casanra Saayman took double gold, sensei Marilise Brummer gold and silver, Minon van Zyl gold and silver and Georgia Maroudas gold in their respective divisions.

Western Province took 12 gold medals in the Elite category (brown and black belt divisions) of which SA JKA Hermanus Dojo took eight of the 12 medals. This achievement was made possible by these brilliant ladies who qualified for JKA National colours and be eligible for the 2023 Japanese Shotocup.
