Rotary Club of Standford needs your help to make ‘Hampers of love’

This has been a very challenging year for many people, with the unemployment rate still very high and food prices that continue to skyrocket. This leaves those who are already hard-pressed to make ends meet, in an extremely vulnerable position.

This has been a very challenging year for many people, with the unemployment rate still very high and food prices that continue to skyrocket. This leaves those who are already hard-pressed to make ends meet, in an extremely vulnerable position.

The Rotary Club of Stanford once again appeals to those who are in a position to help to support its annual Hampers of Love project.

The campaign is well organised and hampers are distributed to those families who are in genuine need in Stanford.

At a cost of R250 each, hampers of basic food items and a few treats will be packed and distributed in Stanford on 21 December.

Lana Coates of the Rotary Club said: “Your contribution will be greatly appreciated by around 280 households, particularly the elderly, sick and desperately poor families, who are even worse off at year end when our soup kitchen volunteers take a well-deserved break.

“Your kindness and support will go a long way to helping a poor family enjoy their Christmas, however humble it may be. There is no greater gift than seeing a smile of gratitude on the face of a desperately poor child or elderly person, and we get plenty of those. Please help us make it special for them.”

Donations can be left in an envelope clearly marked Rotary Hampers at the Stanford Tourism Office. Organisers request that donors also supply their name and email address. Alternatively, deposits can be made in the Rotary Club of Stanford FNB Account (account number 623 559 796 95). Use the word Hampers as your reference and also include your name. The Rotary Club of Stanford is a registered PBO and therefor able to issue tax certificates. Contact Lana Coates at lanainstanford@gmail.com for more detail.
