When you are mourning the loss of a loved one, you might feel completely overwhelmed with grief or feel that nobody understands your pain.
But you don’t have to deal with your painful emotions on your own as there are a number of organisations that offer support for those dealing or struggling to deal with the loss of someone they love.
You can join the Overstrand Hospice Bereavement Peer Support Group that meets at 10:00 on every third Thursday of the month at the Hospice office at 10 Hope Street, Hermanus. The next meeting will be Thursday 20 February. It is a free service aiming to provide an informal and supportive setting where people can talk to others who have also experienced loss. Call 028 312 4679 for more information about this group.
River Mount Hope Centre, which is based in Fisherhaven, also offers special Grief Share sessions for people struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. You can opt to do the 13 sessions in person or online. This service is offered free of charge.
