Hermanus was recently listed under the Top 100 Most Loved Destinations Around The World for 2021 in the Tourism Sentiment Index (TSI).

Frieda Lloyd, Whale Coast Tourism Manager, says to be on the world’s most loved destination list is a very big deal for the local tourism industry.

“This achievement is attributed to the collective effort of our businesses and individuals working hard to make Hermanus work for all,” she said. “The world has noticed the beautification of town, public art on display, hanging flower baskets and the many events organised.”

Dr Annelie Rabie, Mayor of the Overstrand, said: “Well done, Hermanus! I am pleased to see the town and the Western Cape (Knysna #19, Stellenbosch #23, Cape Town #54) claims three places in the Top 50.

“Hermanus continues to be seen as a sought-after location for visitors, and is one of the best places worldwide to holiday, work and stay in.”

Lloyd says the “I Love Hermanus” campaign has officially evolved to “The World Loves Hermanus”.

“With other favourite local destinations Knysna, Stellenbosch and Cape Town,” she said, “Hermanus is in excellent company on this coveted list that will have travellers updating their bucket list destinations. The list considers peer to peer digital conversations and emphasises the importance of word of mouth.”

Rabie thanked all role-players, especially in the tourism industry, for their contribution to this success and helping to keep Hermanus on the map.
