A SAfm spokesperson said there was a cable issue, which had been reported to Sentech.

Regular listeners of SAfm have been unable to listen to their favourite radio station.

A resident of Kidbrooke Place in Onrus, said she’s a regular morning and evening listener at her bedside radio, and can listen during the day via DStv in her lounge TV. “SAfm transmission [104.7] stopped suddenly three weeks ago,” she said, “although in the Overstrand area we can still listen to RSG and Fine Music (FM) Radio. I have tried every avenue possible to know more about our situation here, but to no avail.

“There are many SAfm English listeners in Hermanus. We are all awaiting news on when transmission returns. Even listeners in Overberg towns such as Greyton, Villiersdorp, Caledon and Bot River may be affected.”

A SAfm spokesperson said there was a cable issue, which had been reported to Sentech. “[The state-owned company and provider of electronic communications network services to South Africa’s broadcast sector] said it has begun the maintenance of the cable,” he said, “and hopefully, SAfm will be on air again as soon as possible.”
