Three unfortunate incidents were reported in Sandbaai along the green belt on Kusweg Road. In the first incident, Franklins were chased and caught by children who were unaccompanied by adult supervision.

Equally disturbing was an incident on Monday when three dogs were released onto a flock of guinea fowl. These dogs also pose a serious threat to smaller mammals and reptiles such as snakes, tortoises, and porcupines. Such acts of cruelty are deeply concerning, as the dogs often tear the animals apart.

In addition, there have been increasing reports of endemic plants and bulbs being dug up and stripped in broad daylight.

Residents are urged to report any illegal hunting activities immediately to law enforcement on 028 313 8996, so that appropriate action can be taken against the dogs and their owners. Provide as much information as possible – including location, time, and detailed descriptions, with photographs if available – help protect and conserve our green belts and coastal areas.
