Overstrand Municipality will host a two-day conference for potential investors from 23-24 June in Hermanus.
The conference forms part of Overstrand Municipality’s drive to fast-track economic development in the Overstrand in a sustainable and environmentally sound manner.
Councillor Clinton Lerm, Mayoral Committee Member of Investment and Infrastructure, said: “Undoubtedly the Overstrand, with its unique setting, offers several opportunities for those who wish to invest in more than just the tourism and hospitality industry.
“Yet given the influx of those who want to call the region home, new avenues to create sustainable jobs must be investigated as a matter of urgency.”
To date, the Overstrand has initiated several developments, including an industrial park and a demarcated area where small-scale businesses can be accommodated.
If the full potential of the Overstrand is to be enhanced to the benefit of its people, Lerm said, potential investors need to be consulted so every possible avenue for job creation and economic well-being can be explored.
“We need to ensure a soft approach with a product mix to complement our region,” he stated.
