Jiri Kobos, former owner of Mezz & Co restaurant, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was also an artist, and his family described him as “a special husband, dad and friend”. Kobos was a well-known resident of Hermanus and a world traveller, having lived in 16 different countries.
Facebook has been inundated with posts since the news of his passing broke on Wednesday. “So shocked to hear this sad news! An amazing, talented man . . .”
Roman Kobos posted on Facebook: “Beloved son, brother and uncle. Do you know why we will never forget you? We have your voice in our ears, your image in our minds and you forever in our hearts.”
The family respectfully requested they be given time to come to terms with their loss.
