A heartfelt thank you to our residents for their support and cooperation, and to Overstrand Municipality’s employees for their hard work and dedication over the past year. It has not been easy: most were hard hit by the rising cost of living, and nature reminded us that living at the coast can, at times, be rather challenging.
Thankfully, no matter how dark and threatening the clouds, there are always those who are willing and prepared to bring light into the lives of others.
This year, I would like to extend a special word of thanks to all the civic organisations, NGOs, NPOs, ratepayers’ associations, soup kitchens, volunteer groups and ordinary citizens for their endeavours to uplift the lives of so many, either by means of financial support or unselfishly contributing their time and energy so the Overstrand can be a better place for all to live and work in.
There will always be hardship. For this festive season, though, I would like to wish all of you the merriest of times. May the presence of your loved ones – be it in your heart or home – bring comfort and peace.
My hope for our residents and the municipality is that 2025 will see the realisation of dreams and will invigorate us all to achieve more and to work harder. May we also take the time to appreciate that, despite all our differences, we are still the same in that we all hope for love, peace and being afforded an opportunity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.
Undoubtedly, 2025 holds the promise of being an exciting one since Overstrand Municipality fully intends to continue its quest to create an Overstrand for all.– Dr Annelie Rabie, Mayor of the Overstrand
