It’s that time of the year again when you can vote for your favourite destination, coffee, hotel, restaurant or adventure experience in the Kfm Best of the Cape Awards.
Last year, six establishments in the Overberg came out tops in their respective categories in the popular radio station’s Best of the Cape Awards – Murasie Venue, outside Gansbaai, won the title of Best Wedding Venue, Hermanus Country Market as Best Market, Houw Hoek Farm Stall as the Best Farm Stall, Milkwood Restaurant and Beach Hut was crowned the Best Pet-friendly Eatery, Soetmuisberg Kafee in Bredasdorp as the Best Corner Shop and Southern Right Charters in Hermanus as the Best Adventure Experience. Hermanus was named as a finalist in the Best Dorpie category, but Montague won this division.
This year, 13 establishments from across the Overberg were nominated as finalists in six different categories of the Kfm Best of the Cape competition. Four of the five finalists in the Best Adventure Experience category are from the Overberg – they are Blade Charters (Hermanus), Cape Canopy Tours (Elgin Valley), Sharklady Adventures and Fatbike Tours (Gansbaai).
Pringle Bay Mini Market follows in the footsteps of Soetmuisberg Café in Bredasdorp as a finalist in the Best Corner Shop category with Houw Hoek Farm Stall and Peregrine Farm Stall as contenders for the Best Farm Stall title and Elgin Railway Market and Hermanus Country Market making the top 5 finalists in the Best Market category.
Bona Dea Private Estate in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and De Uijlenes outside Gansbaai are finalists in the Best Wedding Venue category and Old Mac Daddy in the Elgin Valley in the Best Hotel category. Black Medicine coffee shop in Hermanus made the cut as a finalist in the Best Coffee category.
Voting opened Tuesday 26 July at 06:00. You have until midnight on Wednesday 3 August to vote for your favourite. What makes this competition even better is the fact that you stand to win R10 000 just by voting for your favourite establishment at www.kfm.co.za/bestofthecape
