Quality matric results is a culmination of years of dedicated work. It is not achieved by only working hard in the Grade 12 year. We are very proud of every learner and teacher for the consistent hard work over the years.
The IEB examinations test far more than just content. The strength of the IEB assessments is that they test skills such as application of knowledge, independent thinking and creativity, along with content. Curro learners are well prepared for further study at university and to take their place in the job market.
Curro has the added advantage of an extended subject choice through Curro My Choice online learning. These lessons are built into the school day for learners who wish to take subjects that we as school cannot offer.
When analysing the results, one should look at the quality of results as shown by the percentage of learners passing with a bachelor’s degree pass (BD). This opens many doors for the learners to study further. We are so proud of our 96,15% BD pass, as well as the group average of 70,78%.
Skills learnt through team activities in sport and culture are also very important. At Curro we believe that learners should be taught to balance academics with extra-mural activities.
The main focus will always be academics, but the skills learnt through other activities contribute greatly to one’s ability to adapt in a high-pressure working environment. Our matrics of 2022 had a wonderful year full of excitement, gees and sportsmanship, not just academic pressure.
We wish each of our matriculants all the best with their studies or job opportunities. We know they will excel. As Curro Hermanus Lions they will always remain a part of our pride.
