Caryn Pfister with the golfers who attended the fundraising event.

Caryn Pfister resident from Hermanus has made it as one of the top 25 finalists in Ms Unseen South Africa.

Pfister says that someone nominated her and she was encouraged to enter which she then did  on the last day prior to the competition ending. Being amongst the top 25 finalists, Pfister says she feels honoured and liberated. “It has taken me out of my comfort zone, and simultaneously given me a purpose for a cause that I feel passionate about.   This is a non-conventional pageantry which is giving women of all sizes and all ages an opportunity to become role models and  to promote change.”

“What I appreciate is the fact that it is creating a way forward for diversity in that it is making people realise that you can make a difference and empower people  -no matter what imperfections you may think you have.”

Participants of Ms Unseen South Africa raised funds and awareness for Stand United SA, a NPO whose vision is to help woman and children in need and forge meaningful partnerships with organisations willing to stand united against the onslaught on the women and children in the nation.

Pfister organized a golf day event at the Hermanus Golf Club on Sunday 20 September, but due to restrictions only a certain amount of golfers were allowed. A total of 48 golfers attended the day.

“This day would not have been possible without the attendance of the golfers which brought their high spirits and the phenomenal sponsors which jumped aboard and donated amazing prizes.” Pfister managed to raised over R5 000 for Stand United SA.

According to Pfister the pageant has learned her that you are capable of anything once you put your mind to it.  “We very often underestimate ourselves and our capabilities.”

Pfister wants women to know that we are all designed differently and that is the beauty of being unique.  “So please, embrace yourself exactly the way you are and do not try and conform to what society is dictating to you on how one should look like.  The faster one learns to love and accept yourself, the easier things will be.  For what we achieve inwardly will change our outward reality.”
