All customers of the Overstrand Municipality are receiving their monthly municipal accounts via e-mail or a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), and they’re no longer sent in printed form via the post office.
“A third option, a ‘one-liner’ SMS, is now also available for those residents who do not have a smart phone to open the MMS link to view their statements,” Dean O’Neill, the Municipal Manager of the Overstrand Municipality, said.
There seems to be concern among account holders who received their February 2024 statements plus a short SMS reminder.
“This is just a duplication and not an additional statement,” he said. “Those customers who do not have a smartphone to open the MMS link to view their statements, or who are using an e-mail address, are welcome to visit their nearest rates hall to confirm they want the SMS as preferred choice to receive their monthly municipal accounts.
