Nina the dachshund is becoming quite the celebrity in Caledon. She recently visited Klein Ovies (Overberg Primary School) to hand medals out to Dr Marilyn Holloway’s English Enrichment Class pupils, who wrote stories about Nina’s adventures that were subsequently published in a book.
No library would be complete without this delightful book, so Nina accompanied Holloway and the authors to the Caledon Library, where Joshua Jonck, 2024 head boy of Klein Ovies, handed a copy of the book over to Gerhard van Wyk.
Danie Erasmus read his delightful story to all those present, who were treated to cupcakes and fruit juice afterwards.
Nina quietly observed all this and must have wondered why she did not get a cupcake as well.
She spent three weeks in Caledon with Holloway while Nina’s mum, Maureen Verster, was out of the country doing some runs Down Under.
