Tell us more about yourself? I was born in Pretoria, but grew up in Durban, relocated back to Pretoria when I was in my late 20s, and moved to Hermanus in 2015. I am married to my number-one supporter and investor, Martin Lottering, whom I absolutely adore. I have four daughters, three of whom are at Hermanus schools and one in her first year at Stellenbosch University.
What do you like about Hermanus? Gosh, there is so much to like about Hermanus, The list is extremely long. My husband asked me before Covid started if we could move to Stellenbosch, closer to his work, as he was driving there and back daily . . . My answer to him was that he could go stay in a flat during the week and come home on weekends . . . I’m not leaving Hermanus. Not long after, the country went into lockdown, and since then Martin has been working from home and will continue to do so. I am certainly glad he gets to experience this beautiful town during the day as well.
What makes your exercise and fitness centre unique? We have 15 different types of classes per week, each is a group fitness class given by licensed trainers. They are built for all fitness levels, designed to accommodate all ages and most of all are super fun. This is one of its kind – commercialised studio base gym only! We’re also proud to announce we have the only licensed Kangoo Jumps instructor in South Africa, teaching in our studio, as well as the only WavefIT Instructor. Our fitness centre also provides a fun-filled waiting room for children of all ages. This children’s room is equipped with cameras as well as its own babysitter. To top that off, it’s all included in the membership fees, no extra cost. Most of all it’s a place for parents to feel free to come along and unwind with some awesome sessions.
Where did you get the idea of this unique fitness centre? I became a Zumba instructor three years ago, and since then have just been adding more qualifications so as to offer different types of classes. But wanting to do all these classes I needed to find my own space, as the facility I was using was unfortunately not able to accommodate all the classes, nor did they have the correct support structure I needed to give certain classes. Standing at the drawing board I realised this space could be used more. I then started approaching trainers in Hermanus, and one by one we started to form our team of nine trainers and four staff members, each one of them bringing something they are really good at.
Do you have other hobbies? I enjoy arts and crafts, making things and being creative with whatever I can get my hands on when an idea pops into my mind.
To whom do you look up, and why? I quite enjoy watching Marina Sazi, she has such amazing energy and her choreography is outstanding.
What is your motto in life? Spice up your life and make the people around you feel special.
