The Democratic Alliance won an overwhelming victory in the Overstrand with results showing growth for this party since the previous elections.

  • DA won with 64.49% (45 964 votes)
  • ANC 31.25% (22 270 votes)
  • EFF 1.91% (1 362 votes)
  • VF + 1.59% (1 135 votes)

The DA takes 16 council seats and the ANC takes eight council seats. For the first time, the EFF will have a representative in the Overstrand council, after winning one seat.

The DA grew with seven percentage points from the 2011 local elections, when they won with 57%

The ANC on the other hand lost four percentage points since the 2011 elections when they got 35% of the votes.

Compared to the 2014 national results, the DA grew with eight percentage points from 56% and the ANC lost five percentage points from 36%. The EFF showed a 0.91% growth from the 2014 national elections when they got 1% of the votes.
