Overstrand Executive Mayor Dr Annelie Rabie welcomed the Institute of Municipal Public Safety Western Cape (IMPS) and MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marais to Hermanus last week for their conference. Representatives of 23 local authorities in the Western Cape, including the City of Cape Town, and various government departments gathered over two days to discuss and collaborate on several important issues. At the opening, the Provincial IMPS Chairperson, Councillor Leon van Dyk, mentioned that some of the topics to be discussed included the South African Police Service, Western Cape Chaplaincy, the National Prosecuting Authority and the Western Cape Liquor Board. Various stakeholders, including the police, also attended the conference. The Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy was one of the main topics discussed.
