Overstrand Arts/Kunste (OAK) is proud to host Leo Gevisser, a talented piano virtuoso on Sunday 21 August. Gevisser (19) is currently pursuing the Bmus degree program at Juilliard with the legendary Jerome Lowenthal. He began his piano studies at the age of five at Bishops Preparatory School in Cape Town and then went on to study under Nina Schumann and Luis Magalhães. At the age of 14 he moved from South Africa to the US, continuing his musical studies under Kathryn Brown and Daniel Shapiro at the Young Artists Programme, Cleveland Institute of Music. Gevisser has won numerous prizes and awards and has found inspiration from many teachers, including Gary Graffman, Menahem Pressler, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, James Giles, Julian Martin, Lukas Vondracek and Vanessa Latarche. The performance will start at 15:30 in the Hermanus Auditorium. Tickets cost R180 for adults, R80 for students and OAK members pay R150.
