Gansbaai Library, the Overstrand Yeboneers and the Read to Lead project all received recognition for their substantial contribution towards the development and advancement of reading and literacy (including IT literacy) at the provincial Cultural Affairs Awards ceremony.

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport hosted the event on Wednesday 12 October to celebrate individuals and organisations who have made a significant contribution in the sectors of libraries, arts, culture, language, archives, heritage and museums across the province. The theme of the evening was “Moving from the dark to the light”.

Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Anroux Marais, thanked all the nominees for what they are doing to keep arts, culture, heritage, language, archives and libraries sectors growing.

“Every single category honoured here is so important in the work we are doing across the province, and your contributions are immeasurable in their worth. Please keep doing what you are doing as you are helping us to bring hope and joy to so many people in the province,” she added.
