Being passionate about people and giving back to the community is something that has always been close to Natalie Munro’s heart.

The resident of Hermanus recently started the Food4love campaign with the aim to assist people in need in her community.

She said the campaign is a platform for people in the town to make a difference, no matter how small or big. “It is done with the simple idea of doing something for love, expecting nothing in return.

“It started when my family, friends and I, with a little extra put our money together and managed to buy four trollies of goods, which we gifted to the Disaster Management and the RDP centre in Zwelihle.”

Munro said she was blown away by the overwhelming response from the community, which has joined in to help. Donations have come from near and far, in various amounts and contributions.

“It just shows what we can do together. We may be a third-world country, but we are a people that put the heart first,” Munro said.

She explained that Disaster Management was working tirelessly collecting, cleaning and preparing parcels for the most vulnerable. “With their help and that of other concerned community members I now know what to buy, when to buy it and where it is needed. Food4love will continue helping people as long as funds allow.

“We encourage people to share and donate, as this initiative is about our town being there for everyone in these trying times, and we may all be in it for the long haul.” If you wish to make a contribution, email Natalie on natalie@madalabags.co.za
