The Department of Health in the
Overberg reports that due to a “sudden reduction” in the supply of vaccines, no
vaccinations in the Overstrand will take place for the next three days.
Doctor Jannie Mouton, Acting
Medical Manager Overstrand Sub-district, stated: “Due to a sudden reduction in
vaccine flow for this week, for reasons beyond our control, we unfortunately
will not be able to honour any of our commitments for the next three days.
“This unfortunately also means
that people from Gansbaai, originally scheduled for Monday 12 July and who were
rescheduled to Thursday 15 July, will not be able to receive their vaccines and
the system cannot generate another postponement message.”
Mouton added that the department
is in the process of trying to contact individuals who were scheduled to
receive the vaccines to inform them of the developments and to reschedule
appointments.
No vaccinations are scheduled to
take place in the Overstrand from 14 – 16 July. Teams will however continue to
visit eligible persons who are bedridden to vaccinate them in the comfort of
their homes from 14 – 16 July.
“If you know of any bedridden
people who did not register or phoned the sub-district office to put their name
on a list, kindly encourage them to do so,” said Mouton. “They can phone 028
313 5279 to register.”
He added: “Our vaccine delivery
scheduled for next week, 19 – 23 July is also very limited but we will try to
commit to the schedule below with less vaccines until informed otherwise.”
