The Mossel River Bridge near Kwaaiwater in Hermanus, which was closed on 15 April as a result of storm damage, has been temporarily re-opened to coastal path walkers.

“The decision to reopen the wooden footbridge at the mouth of the Mossel River comes after the engineers confirmed that there are no obvious signs of deflection and that the existing laminated beams are doing their work,” said the Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean O’Neill.

“The replacement of the gabion baskets and redesign of a new bridge will continue in the new financial year.”

Runners are requested to rather walk all the bridges.
