The S75 team responds to the article of its boat speeding in front of Sandbaai as being a “joyride” by running our Facebook post here: “This was not a joy ride, but practising for the Trans Agulhas 2022. This race is considered one of the most dangerous inflatable boat races in the world and stretches over 700 km in four days. The team needs to spend many hours on the water getting used to the different sea conditions. After the article was published in Hermanus Times we contacted Cape Nature, the Harbour Master and NSRI, which confirmed we could practise as long as we stayed away from the whale sanctuary and didn’t intentionally get close to the whales.
