As of 20 March 2020 there are no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Overberg District.
This was confirmed by Roche Butler, spokesperson for the Provincial Department of Health in the Overberg District.
On Friday morning, the National Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize confirmed that there are now a total of 202 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in South Africa. According to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), the Western Cape has 11 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, bringing the provincial number to 57 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Western Cape Mininster of Health Nomafrench Mbombo has tested negative for Covid-19 after she was in contact with someone who had tested positive. Premier Alan Winde welcomed this news. “We are all glad for this result, and hope it serves it to allay the concerns of others who have been in contact with her,” he wrote on Facebook.
