Resolute efforts by officers of the Gansbaai police to address the ongoing problems related to gangsterism and drug dealing effectively, yielded positive results. Gansbaai Police commander Lieutenant Colonel Winston Coetzee reported two unlicensed firearms and drugs worth thousands of rands were confiscated recently. He said: “On Thursday 19 May officials raided an alleged gang stronghold in Kampeerweg, Blompark. The officials confiscated an unlicensed firearm that was hidden under the ground in a plastic container. A 32-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.” The suspect appeared in Hermanus Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 May. Coetzee confirmed drugs worth thousands of rands were also confiscated when a number of so-called drug houses were raided. “Eleven suspects were arrested on charges related to the Drug and Drug Trafficking Act,” said Coetzee. “We commend the officers involved for their diligence and good work.”
