The Hermanus Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Crimes Unit needs the public’s help to locate two suspects wanted on charges of rape and sexual assault.
Captain Buks Hanekom, the Hermanus FCS Unit commander, said they are wanted in two separate incidents. In one, the suspect wanted on a charge of rape is described as a young man believed to be in his early 20s with dark brown eyes and beard stubble.
“The suspect is said to have acne scars in his face and reportedly has a stocky physique,” he said. “He is light of complexion and is approximately 1,6-1,65 m tall. He was reportedly wearing a black balaclava that was folded back, orange-and-black shorts, an orange T-shirt and a black watch on his left wrist at the time of the incident.”
The suspect allegedly threatened a young woman with a firearm and raped her while her friend, held captive by another man, looked on. The incident reportedly occurred in October in thick bushes along the Sandbaai coastal path.
The suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a young woman is described as approximately 1,75-1,8 m tall, slender, clean shaven and with a small scar on the left of his top lip.
He was reportedly wearing a pink shirt, dark blue denim jean, black tekkies and a multi-coloured floppy cap.
“He reportedly spoke Xhosa and his four upper front teeth are missing,” Hanekom related. “The suspect allegedly grabbed his victim while she was on her way home and forced her into a shack in Mandela Street, Zwelihle where he tried to rape her. The victim reportedly got free of the suspect only when he fled after she had bitten him.
