The last quarterly “Let’s Talk Tourism” meeting of 2022 hosted by Beyond Black Mountain was held at the Caledon Grace Guesthouse on Thursday 10 November.
Jan Lutzeyer of Explorio gave a very informative talk on the relevance and importance of the correct use of social media platforms to promote all aspects of the tourism industry.
Lizelle Bailey of Women in Tourism in the Western Cape outlined the objectives of Women in Tourism, namely to raise the profile of women in tourism through education, empowerment and growth. Women in Tourism, which is open to men as well, offers regular member networking events and educational workshops.
Fayrouz Holliday-October of Halaal Hopper spoke about the immense growth of halaal tourism in the Western Cape and gave brief guidelines to guesthouse owners about the requirements needed to register as a halaal establishment.
Lindsay Madden of Heilfontein in Tesselaarsdal not only provided the beautiful protea bouquets that were given to the guest speakers, but also gave a short talk about the Hermanus Camino walk, outlining the importance this has, not only on tourism, but also for job creation.
After the talks those attending had the opportunity to mingle and network over coffee and tea served on the veranda overlooking the beautiful garden of Caledon Grace Guesthouse.
