The Boland Interzone Bowls Tournament took place in Langebaan recently between the three zone areas of Boland Overberg, Cape Winelands and West Coast.
It was a tournament enjoyed by all with excellent bowls seen.
The Overberg ladies outdid themselves, already scoring 34,5 points out of 50 on the first day, an excellent performance that they continued on Sunday, finishing with a grand total of 63,5 points.
The men could not come up with the same level of performance, but in the end Overberg was the overall winner, finishing with a grand total of 90,5 points, followed by Cape Winelands with 79 points and West Coast with 70,5 points. The club congratulates the Overberg ladies’ team – Ezile Fourie, Petula Fortuin, Lerina Ferreira and Elmarie Lubbe for once again being the best ladies’ team of the weekend as well as Danny Williams, Ian Rice, Neteneel Hesselman and Jannie Rall of the West Coast being the best men’s team.
“We also want to thank the West Coast clubs and their players for the catering, serving us all meals and teas over the weekend,” an Overberg club spokesperson said. “You did a great job. Despite the weather experienced three days before, the greens were in excellent condition.”
