The sixth annual Women’s Sevens Rugby Tournament will be held on 24 and 25 February at the Hermanus High School grounds.
Rugby enthusiasts can look forward to two days of top class rugby between teams from across South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Altogether 12 senior teams and up to 10 junior teams (under 18s) will test their mettle and show off their skill at this Boland Rugby Union approved event. It is hosted by the Walkerbay Women’s Rugby Team, also known as the Walkerbabes, who were crowned the SA Women’s Club Rugby Champions in 2022.
Gates open at 08:00 and the entry fee is R30. There will be live entertainment and lucky draws with great prizes up for grabs. A kiddies section will ensure that the little ones are entertained while their parents enjoy the rugby action.
“We are super excited about this annual event that will be held at the Hermanus High School grounds once again. Our gratitude goes to the school for making their facilities available and helping us to ensure a great event for both the players and spectators,” said Michelle Bosch, chairlady of the Walkerbay Women’s Rugby Club and manager of the Boland Women’s Rugby team.
She also thanked their main sponsors Wildcat Inflatables, Wonderland, Dial-a-Physio and Twizza for their support.
