October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In support of this the Office of the Speaker, Derick Appel, hosted a walk from the Theewaterskloof Municipality Head Office in Plein Street to the Victoria Hall, where those attending received an educational talk from oncologists Drs Mohammed and Kotze from Cancercare. Free screening to detect possible early symptoms and assist with prevention for both men and women was also available for all who were there. This awareness campaign will become an annual event.
