The Marine Hotel in Hermanus is set to warm up the winter season with an exciting calendar of events, kicking off in June. Highlights include a comforting new Winter Warmers menu, the return of the popular First Friday Bottomless Bubbles, and a series of Saturday Food and Wine Lunches showcasing standout wines from South African estates.
A local favourite returns with First Friday Bottomless Bubbly and live music, taking place from 16:00 – 18:00 on the first Friday of each month, from June through September. Guests can look forward to sipping on bottomless L’Ormarins Brut, paired with three elegant canapés by Chef Oelof Vorster, for R265 per person. If you decide to stay for dinner you will receive a 10% discount on your food and beverage bill.
The Marine’s new series of Saturday Food & Wine Lunches will launch on 21 June with Iona Wines from the Elgin Valley; followed by Thorne & Daughters Wines on 26 July 2025, and the wines of Springfield Estate on 30 August 2025. The stylish Pavilion Restaurant overlooking the cliff path and ocean beyond will provide a cosy venue for an afternoon of delicious cuisine and conversation . At R495 per person, it includes a welcome glass of wine, two small plates as starters, and a main course. Each course will be paired with a wine from the featured winery, presented by the winemaker in person.
Dessert will follow to end the afternoon on a sweet note. Guests who prefer the extend the gourmet evening by stying over at The Marine, can do so at a special rate of R4900 for two people sharing. It includes the Saturday Food and Wine Lunch and luxury accommodation in a double room, as well as full breakfast the next morning, complete with your choice of hot breakfast dish, as well as coffees and teas, and the continental buffet that includes a glass of bubbles, a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary.If you want to escape the cold but prefer more casual dining, you can opt to enjoy a hearty dish from The Marine’s new Winter Warmers menu. At R165 per dish, choices include Mutton Masala Curry with steamed rice, salsa and poppadom; or buttermilk-marinated crumbed chicken burger with hicmichurri, coleslaw and triple-cooked chips. Other options include braised beef risotto with carrot, pea, crispy onion and pickled mushroom; and in a tribute to its magnificent seaside location, a Seafood chowder with calamari, mussels and catch of the day served with ciabatta toast.
The Winter Warmers menu is served weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) from June through August for lunch or dinner..Bookings are also open for The Marine’s Father’s Day Sunday Roast Lunch on 15 June 2025, offering a 3-course menu at R465 per person.
The Marine is centrally located within walking distance of many art galleries and venues, and provides the ideal base for visitors attending Hermanus’ upcoming arts festivals this winter. It is also the ideal place for a quick drink or a cup of coffee, or a laid-back meal between shows and exhibitions.
The Winter Warmers menu will also be served in the relaxed Sun Lounge during the FynArts Festival from 6–16 June, and the Kalfiefees from 1–10 August.
