Grabouw Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred earlier today (Friday 18 September) at the crossing near Blikkiesdorp informal settlement.
A spokesperson for Grabouw Police confirmed that a woman, the principal of a Grabouw school, was fatally wounded when an unknown gunman fired a number of shots at the vehicle she was travelling in.
“It appears that the victim was waiting at the crossing when several shots were fired at her vehicle. She was fatally wounded and passed away on the scene,” said the spokesperson. “The deceased’s handbag and cellphone were still inside the vehicle. Nothing was stolen.”
A stop and go system was put in place at the intersection while police fine combed the scene for evidence.
No arrests have been made yet.
