Zipping through the air while enjoying breathtaking views is sure to get your adrenaline pumping and put a smile of exhilaration on your face.
And this is exactly what you can expect when embarking on an adventure with Cape Canopy Tour in the Elgin Valley.
Cape Canopy Tour claimed the title of Best Adventure Experience in the Kfm Best of the Cape Awards in 2022. They also claimed the number 2 spot in the popular travel guide The Lonely Planet’s “New In Travel” mini-guide’s list of 26 must-do experiences across the globe in 2015. It was also honoured as the Best Emerging Tourism Business in the province at the Premier’s Recognition Awards (PERA) in 2015. It is testimony of the world-class experience you can look forward to when booking an adventure.
Participants can expect a four-hour zip-line tour with aerial views of the picturesque Hottentot Hollands Nature Reserve. After checking in, being informed what to expect, donning the necessary safety gear and completing the necessary safety checks, guests will set off up the majestic mountains in a 4×4 vehicle.
The fun aerial tour includes 13 platforms, 11 thrilling slides and a swing bridge, taking thrill-seekers zipping past waterfalls and through pristine valleys.
Each platform is custom-built around the rock face and each slide has a specific angle and speed, depending on the distance between the platforms.
The aerial tour is the result of a public-private partnership between Canopy Tours and CapeNature, the custodian of this World Heritage site in the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve.
At least two experienced guides accompany a small group of up to nine people on the tour, educating them along the way about the fauna and flora in the nature reserve.
Environmental education is an important part of the Cape Canopy Tour experience. Trained field guides escort small groups, ensuring their safety while telling them more about the fynbos, birds and ecology.
The tour is suitable for adrenaline junkies of almost all ages – from 5 to 85.
The fact that safety is its number 1 priority ensures peace of mind as one zips through the air hundreds of metres above the ground. Daily course checks and an annual engineering inspection are carried out as part of the rigorous safety programme and all guides complete a comprehensive training course.
